Background

Tuberculosis is an infectious disease usually caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria. It generally affects the lungs but can also affect other parts of the body. About 10 % of latent infections progress to active disease which, if left untreated, kills about half of those affected. For these reasons, despite classic disease symptoms, identifying the radiologic features of musculoskeletal system and its main differential diagnosis are extremely important for early diagnosis and lower morbidity.
