Conclusion

The Doppler ultrasound is essential for monitoring the long-term performance of TIPS. If there are ultrasound findings indicating dysfunction, a venography should be performed to confirm the status of the stent. Early diagnosis of TIPS dysfunction is associated with a significant reduction in morbidity and mortality for these patients.
