Background

Myelopathy represents an injury to the spinal cord, with various etiologies, including vascular, metabolic, demyelinating, infectious or neoplastic disorders, often with specific imaging findings. Myelopathies can have compressive or non-compressive causes. Compressive myelopathy primarily results from degenerative factors and neoplastic lesions (astrocytoma, meningioma, ependymoma), closely followed by inflammatory disorders (multiple sclerosis, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis).
