Methods and materials

We created a dataset including TC images of patients with histological diagnosis of lung cancer who have undergone chest CT scan without or with contrast agent at the Dulbecco Hospital (Catanzaro, Italy) with volume reconstructions at 0,5- and 1-mm thick slice. The images were obtained with TC Toshiba Aquilion ONE (Canon Medical System Europe B.V., Zoetermeer, Netherlands). The application used to highlight lesions in CT scans was "3D Slicer", a free, open-source software package for scientific visualization and image analysis.
