Typical radiologic characteristics of meningioma:
- Dural tail sign
- Adjacent bone hyperostosis
- Spoke wheel sign – tumor's vessel radial spread
- Homogenous enhancement
- Presence of calcification
- Large lesions may cause adjacent brain edema
Radiologic characteristics worrisome for dural-based metastasis:
- Adjacent bone destruction
- Leptomeningeal extension
- Inhomogeneous enhancement, usually due to necrosis or hemorrhage
- Adjacent brain edema unrelated to the size of the lesion.
Different features are demonstrated in Figures 1-7.
