Abdominal sepsis is a life-threatening condition, and early treatment is fundamental for prognosis and survival. The management of this pathology is based on the initial stabilization of the patient and, on many occasions, is continued with the performance of an imaging test.
Thus, the radiologist plays a fundamental role in the early diagnosis of the infectious focus and its evolutionary control.
In the emergency context, computed tomography (CT) is the most used imaging modality due to its speed, and, on some occasions, an ultrasound (US) could be performed despite its limitations.
