Conclusion

Abdominal sepsis requires a multidisciplinary approach, and radiologists play a key role in rapid diagnosis and minimally invasive management. The CT and the ultrasound are the main imaging tests used for the diagnosis of abdominal sepsis, so it is of fundamental importance to be familiar with the main etiologies of abdominal infection and their imaging findings since early diagnosis and targeted treatment are the best predictors of survival in this clinical setting.

  • Early imaging saves lives.
  • Collaboration with surgical & critical care teams improves outcomes.
