Background

MPCs are complex and can be challenging to diagnose, because of anatomical complexity and proximity of different organs in this region, and as cystic lesions from nearby structures may mimic prostatic or periprostatic abnormalities. While ultrasound and CT can assist the diagnosis, MRI remains the modality of choice given its excellent spatial and contrast resolution in the pelvis, providing a detailed anatomical segmentation.
