The study population included 766,770 women invited to the organized breast cancer screening program BreastScreen Norway between 2018 and 2023. The program offers all female residents aged 50-69 years biennial screening mammography to a fee of 25 Euro (5). The women receive an invitation letter with stated time and place for the screening examination and an information leaflet describing various aspects of breast cancer screening. The invitation letter and leaflet have been available in Arabic, English, Polish, Somali, and Urdu on the Cancer Registry of Norway’s website since January 2021 (5). We extracted data about invitations to screening and attendance from the Cancer Registry database and followed the women from the month of the first screening invitation in the study period until the month of breast cancer diagnosis, emigration, death or end of study period. For this study, the invited women were stratified into immigrants and non-immigrants. Immigrants were defined as women born abroad and were further classified into born in Western and non-Western countries. Western countries included countries in Western Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand, while non-Western countries included all other countries. Numbers of invitations and attendance following any invitation to BreastScreen Norway were presented for all immigrants, immigrants from Western and non-Western countries, non-immigrants and all invited women for the period 2018-2023. Attendance trends were also depicted. This study is a part of quality assurance of the program and the use of data is covered by the Cancer Registry Regulations (6).
