Conclusion

The FIB-4 INDEX appeared to overestimate the risk of fibrosis in this patient cohort, suggesting a potential discrepancy between the FIB-4 scoring system and the more precise, non-invasive imaging techniques used for fibrosis assessment, with none of the seventeen individuals assessed at high risk having evidence of cACLD by SWE criteria (Table 1). 

Greater awareness of NAFLD and the development of cost-effective risk stratification strategies are warranted to address the growing burden of NAFLD. SWE is supported to assess individuals considered at increased clinical risk of MASLD.
