Results

Six patients were excluded from the analysis because of stochastic fetal movements and movement artifacts; therefore, the study population was composed of 23 patients.

Mean gestational age was 32 ± 3.

Table 1 shows main volumes and function for LV for both 4-chambers and short axis view. A significant difference was observed in LV end-diastolic volume (LV-EDV) and LV end-systolic volume (LV-ESV), with values being higher in the short-axis view (LV-EDV: 2.3 ± 1.2 mL; LV-ESV: 1.1±0.5) compared to the four-chamber view (LV-EDV: 1.8 ± 1.1 mL, LV-ESV: 0.8± 0.4 p = 0.002). However, no significant differences were found between the two views for, stroke volume (LV-SV) and ejection fraction (LV-EF), as all p-values were greater than 0.05.

Regarding right ventricular (RV) measurements, main results are presented in table 2. Mean RV-EDV was 3.1 ± 1.7 mL, while RV-ESV was 1.8 ± 1.0 mL. The calculated RV-SV was 1.3 ± 0.9 mL, with an RV-EF of 43 ± 11.5%.

Mean ICT was 0.42 ± 0.04. Mean SF-LV was 0.24 ± 0.07, SF-RV was 0.23 ± 0.7.

Table 1: Table 1: Table 1 shows main volumes and function for LV for both 4-chambers and short axis view. LV-EDV: Left Ventricular End-Diastolic Volume; LV-ESV: Left Ventricular End-Systolic Volume; LV-SV: Left Ventricular Stroke Volume; LV-EF: Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction.

Table 2: Table 2: Table 2 shows main volumes and function for RV for only short axis view. RV-EDV: Right Ventricular End-Diastolic Volume; RV-ESV: Right Ventricular End-Systolic Volume; RV-SV: Right Ventricular Stroke Volume; RV-EF: Right Ventricular Ejection Fraction.
