Neurocysticercosis (NCC) is a helminth infection of the central nervous system caused by the pork tapeworm Taenia solium. This infection is endemic in many parts of the world, including Central and South America, Africa and Asia. Within these endemic areas, this infection is a leading cause of seizures among infected individuals. It is useful for the radiologist to be familiar with the characteristic imaging appearances of this infection as well as to assess for possible post-infectious complications which may be found on cross-sectional imaging examinations.
