Purpose

SVC stenting is often used to manage malignant superior vena cava obstruction (SVCO). Stenting is a minimally invasive procedure that offers more rapid symptomatic relief when compared with other management options including chemotherapy, radiotherapy or conservative treatment [1-3].

There are different stent designs such as close cell and open cell type, both were used in our center for SVC stenting. Each design has certain advantages and disadvantages as summarized in Table 1.

This study aims to evaluate the outcome of SVC stenting for malignant SVCO with comparison between open cell and close cell stents.
