Background

We used a simplified approach for venous ultrasounds of the lower extremities/ limbs and named it- 'DJPA'; looking for DVT (Deep Venous Thrombosis), competency of Junctions (saphenofemoral and saphenopopliteal by Valsalva method), and Perforators (by compression-release), and Assessment for GSV (great saphenous vein diameter) and any anatomic variant. We checked prospectively for ease (shortening of time) and performance (reproducibility of results by the supervised radiologist) for 3 months (September- November 2023) and compared with previous studies (May- July 2023) before the application of this simplified protocol (in August 2023). Training of staff for documentation of these findings on approved proformas and expected skills were made. Single-operator trained sonographer's ultrasounds were taken. Scan times were noted and the reproducibility of results by the supervising radiologist (accuracy) was documented.
