Findings and procedure details

The study successfully integrated an AI tool within the NHS environment (Figure 4).

We found that successful implementation requires adherence to appropriate digital and research governance guidelines throughout the life cycle of the study. We outline the research set-up process in the UK for investigator lead studies and the local set-up requirements at a large UK teaching hospital with emphasis on AI-specific challenges identified during the process.
