Colorectal cancer is the third most frequently diagnosed cancer in males and the second most common in females globally. Rectal cancer, although sharing many features with generic colorectal carcinoma, stands out for its distinct preoperative imaging assessment. Rectal MRI plays a pivotal role in local staging, and unique surgical techniques, such as total mesorectal excision, are employed in its management.
