Conclusion

A thorough understanding of peritoneal anatomy greatly improves our radiological interpretation and helps narrow the differential diagnosis of a wide variety of pathological processes including infections, perforations, trauma and spread of neoplasms.

CT with multiplanar reformation improves the resolution of peritoneal spaces and the detection of pathologic conditions.
