Our study confirmed the superiority of CMR over EMB both in diagnosis and prognosis in patients wish suspected myocarditis and emphasizes the high false-negative rate of EMB. Considering the good prognosis of patients presenting with chest pain (which is common in the false-negative group), we should be more cautious when considering performing a biopsy and rely more on the novel techniques to minimize the risks borne by patients during treatment. Future efforts could target the different roles of CMR and EMB in the diagnosis and prognostic prediction of myocarditis, as well as standardizing and updating the management guidelines of myocarditis in order to maximize patient benefits.
