This study found that carotid plaques in patients undergoing Coronary artery bypass graft were significantly softer than those in control groups, as measured by ultrasound 2D-SWE. This result highlights the potential of 2D-SWE as a noninvasive tool for assessing plaque stability in high-risk CABG patients. This result could also indicate that patients presenting for a Carotid artery traditional Ultrasound assessment who have a growing soft plaque may benefit from preventing further heart disease in the future. Further studies with larger sample sizes or joint multi-centre studies are needed to validate these findings and explore their clinical implications broadly with more accurate results.
